School Readiness Symposia feature national and international experts who impart cutting-edge research and practices to early education professionals, state and local policy makers, parents, librarians, and members of the business community. Responding to gaps in readiness among key populations and specific early education content and instructional needs, Ready At Five convenes two to three Symposia each year on a wide array of topics. Recent Symposia topics have included incorporating the arts into the early learning classroom, providing a vision for improving Maryland's early care and education system, and why early interventions work, particularly for low-income children. Early educators receive MSDE Office of Child Care Core Knowledge “clock hours” for attending the Symposia.
