Many thanks to all of our attendess, speakers and sponsors for taking part in our very first VIRTUAL School Readiness Symposium on December 15, 2020. We had over 250 people join us for "How Cultural Competency Creates Transformative Learning Experiences" with Alvin Irby, MS, MPA, Founder and Chief Reading Inspirer at Barbershop Books. Please find links and materials below from the presenters.
In this session, Dr. Junlei Li and Dr. Dana Winters discussed Fred Rogers ideas around finding opportunities to "bring courage" (in Fred's words) to those around us. What we do for the human beings around us - young or old - is often so much more than just our job descriptions and titles. Even when conditions around us feel limiting, we can all find our resilient and creative ways to be helpful. In case you missed it, please watch here: https://vimeo.com/482799220/dc452c8936
