The Executive Leadership Committee of Ready At Five is pleased to announce that Keri Hyde, former Administrator for the Howard County Office of Children and Families, within the Howard County Government, has been named the new Executive Director. "Keri is exceptionally well qualified to lead our organization," said Meredith Callanan, Chair of the Ready At Five Executive Leadership Committee. "She brings tremendous collaboration, partnership and management skills, along with a deep commitment to young children, their families and the teaching profession. The entire Executive Leadership Committee looks forward to working with Keri as she leads the next phase of our work." Ms. Hyde will begin her new role with Ready At Five on Monday, July 16, 2018.
Hyde has spent more than 15 years in the Howard County Government addressing issues impacting children, youth and families, and working closely with the Howard County Public School System and the Early Childhood Advisory Council. She is an innovative leader with an extensive background in public-private partnerships, family engagement and community-based programming. Prior to her work in local government, she was an elementary school teacher in Carroll County, and started her career in social services, working with individuals and families facing substance abuse.
Ms. Hyde holds a post-graduate certification in Elementary Education from McDaniel College, and a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Washington and Lee University.
Working with the Executive Leadership Committee and the Ready At Five staff, Hyde will advance the organization's mission to improve the practice and quality of early childhood education so that all children in Maryland enter kindergarten ready to succeed. She is also charged with supporting the organization's long-term financial sustainability and building public awareness and support for Ready At Five's work.
"Over the past 15 years, I have engaged with Ready At Five in a variety of ways and have always been impressed with the work and commitment of this organization," said Ms. Hyde. "I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of the future of Ready At Five, as we work collaboratively to ensure that all of Maryland's children are ready to succeed."
